Anthology Hoxton Press reaches key milestone with tower top out
London property developer Anthology has reached a fundamental milestone in the construction of its Hoxton Press development, as it ‘tops out’ on the 16-storey Duo tower. Local dignitaries, partners and members of CETRA (Colville Estate Tenants and Residents Association) were in attendance last Thursday (14th September), as the final piece of concrete was laid on the tower, marking a fundamental milestone in the construction of the 86 home tower.
Following some light refreshments in the Hoxton Press show apartment, guests were taken to the highest floor of the Hoxton Press Duo tower to witness the landmark moment of the build process. The Anthology team, alongside contractors Wates Construction and representatives from Hackney Council enjoyed the glorious views from the 16th floor of the Duo tower, which span out across Shoreditch Park.
Mayor of Hackney, Phillip Glanville, who has been actively involved in the regeneration of the Colville Estate, was present at the event and at hand to help the Anthology team with laying the last piece of concrete on the tower. Representatives from the Hackney Council treated guests to the story of the Colville Estate and the wider Hoxton area, with the Wates and Anthology teams giving an update on progress to date on the exciting Hoxton development. Phillip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney, commented: “It was fantastic to celebrate this milestone in our work to build nearly 1,000 new homes on the Colville Estate – including hundreds of much-needed Council properties for social rent for local people.
“London is experiencing an unprecedented housing crisis, so I’m proud that we’re responding to the challenge with a new generation of high-quality housebuilding.”
David Newey, Project Director for Anthology Hoxton Press, commented: “I personally could not be more thrilled to see the final steps taken on the concrete frame construction of the Duo tower, and would like to thank each and every member of the team who has been involved with the project to date. It has been a hugely positive experience so far and I know I speak on behalf of the entire Anthology team when I say we are excited to take the next steps with construction and start to see the finishing touches of the development fall in to place.”
Mark Tant, Managing Director Wates Construction London Private Residential, added: “It is immensely satisfying to see the first tower topping out, signalling the project is well on its way to completion.
“Construction has been progressing extremely well on site, and we look forward to further successful collaboration with Anthology and the London Borough of Hackney in completing the 86 homes in the Duo tower, and a further 112 in the 20-storey Mono tower, as we move on to the next stage of the project.”
Anthology is working closely with Hackney Council on the Hoxton Press development, which is the third phase of the ongoing regeneration of the Colville Estate and will provide a selection of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments priced from £615,000.
