Anthology takes a walk with Ferry Lane Primary
London property developer Anthology has given its support to Ferry Lane Primary School during Walk to School Week, to encourage pupils to up their step count as part of a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Situated just around the corner from the Hale Works development, members of the Anthology team visited Ferry Lane Primary on Wednesday 16 May to present at a special assembly about the importance of safety when walking to school. The children also had lots of questions about the upcoming new neighbourhood being created by the property developer who also presented pupils with high-vis vests that they will be able to use on future walks to school.
Walk to School Week is a national campaign to encourage children and their families to build exercise into their daily routine. The initiative also has several environmental benefits helping to reduce CO2 emissions, decrease traffic congestion and improve safety at the school gate. In 2017, 400,000 children and their families decided to leave the car at home and walk to school.
Chris Powell, Project Director at Anthology Hale Works said: “Tottenham is such a vibrant area with lots of different sights to enjoy and take in whilst strolling about the area so we thought Walk to School Week was the perfect opportunity to help promote the importance of remaining active to the pupils of Ferry Lane Primary School by making the most of the area on their doorstep.”
Deputy Headteacher of Ferry Lane Primary School, Lisa Rawashdeh added: “Walk to School Week helps to promote many values that we look to instil in every pupil including healthy living, safety and environmental awareness to name a few. The assembly was hosted by Anthology and enjoyed by all the children who found it really informative. Hopefully we will see many more of our pupils take up walking to school as a free and easy way to build exercise into their days.”
Anthology’s Hale Works development forms part of the wider Hale Village redevelopment. Boasting a selection of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom homes, the striking tower being created by Anthology will act as a landmark for the area.
