Hoxton Press January Newsletter
Welcome to the latest edition of The Anthology, providing our neighbours with helpful information and updates for our Hoxton Press Project, on Bridport Place and Penn Street.
The last quarter has been very productive for the project. We have now topped out both towers, completed all but 1 floor of glazing and are approaching the final elements of brickwork on Duo. This progress has allowed us to start taking down some of our access equipment, with two mast climbers and our first tower crane being dismantled before Christmas (weather permitting).
Internally, the services have been progressing in both towers with various plant nearing full installation in the basement, most pipework, cabling, meters and flues now in the risers and first fix elements in some of the homes complete.
The fit out has been underway in conjunction with this. On the lower floors of both towers we now have kitchens, carpentry and joinery elements, decoration and second fix services complete. Another recent milestone was the last delivery of bathroom pods with all now fitted.
The communal areas are starting to take shape with the brick vaults underway and the lobby areas on the residential floors having ceilings put in. We also have our first operational lift.
In early December our first home was complete. This will be used as the ‘benchmark’, setting the level of quality desired for the rest of the homes. 1 down, 197 to go!
On December 14th we invited members of CETRA and colleagues from PPCR, Wates, Hackney Council and Higgins to attend a topping out ceremony on Mono Tower. The event was well attended with the last bit of concrete laid by CETRA member, John, on the roof.
