#DiscoverDeptford – South East London’s Best Green Spaces
This week (21-29 July) marks National Parks Week, in honour of this, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite green spaces in Deptford and its surrounds!
Our favourite park is of course, Deptford Park. Officially opened to the public over 100 years ago in 1897 and located just a short walk from our development, Deptford Foundry, Deptford Park offers South East Londoners a lush, green space to relax and enjoy.
In neighbouring Greenwich is Greenwich Park, the oldest enclosed Royal Park, with over 180 acres to explore. The park is home to the meridian line, which represents the Prime Meridian of the world, which serves as the reference point for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Greenwich Park is also home to around 30 deer, as well as over 90 different species of bird.
Situated in nearby New Cross, Telegraph Hill is one of our favourite evening spots in London. Take a blanket and a picnic and watch as the sun sets behind the city skyline. Telegraph Hill Park is also a great place to pick up fantastic produce from the Lewisham Farmers’ Market, which is held every third Saturday of the month.
Nestled in between Lewisham and Brockley is Hilly Fields. Hilly Fields offers visitors a slice of tranquility and a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, whilst reminding them that it is never too far away, with stunning panoramic views of the city.
