#HoxtonHotspots – cycling hotspots in the heart of Hackney part 2…
Hackney (and Hoxton in particular) is continuing to establish itself as one of the key hotspots in the capital for those who are partial to using two wheels to get about – be it as part of their daily commute to work, or as a leisurely activity at the weekends. We are showcasing some of the very best cycling hotspots that Hoxton has to offer, all within reach of our Hoxton Press development…
Enjoy cycling but in more of a social than exercise environment? Fancy a nice beer after the work but need to fit your exercise in? Look no further – the Shoreditch Pedius is the perfect answer for you. You will be cycling around the Shoreditch and Hoxton area as part of a team – like a tandem, but better – all with pub stops on your way home. Could a pub crawl be any healthier?
This unique lab café is the perfect place if you want to get yourself some new cycling gear that’s slightly quirky. ‘Look Mum No Hands’ has been around since 2010, serving as a base for cyclists to hang out after their ride and watch the latest cycling events, all whilst enjoying some locally sourced delicacies. You really do have to take your hats (or should we say helmets?) off to the team – they sure know how to hold the perfect cycling party.
New to Hackney? New to cycling? This May, try out this unique tour around Brick Lane, Shoreditch, Hoxton and Hackney that showcases the finest street art that the area has to offer, including ones from Banksy, with your bike getting you closest to it. From this tour, you’ll hear the stories behind the art. Why not give something new a try and experience the culture of London from the comfort of your own bicycle seat.
Auguste Handmade is a modest merge of two things Londoners love – coffee and cycling. The team offers personal advice on anything and everything bike-related, as well as serving delicious coffee. With a ‘Build Your Own Bike’ wall, you can sip your coffee whilst wistfully imagining your dream bike (which could easily become a reality). And to top it off, once a month, they transform their bicycle boutique into a venue for exhibitions and gigs!
Hackney Council has released an app, designed in the interest of cyclists, to improve the future cycling standards in the area and increase the amount of people using bicycles. Cyclists can use the app to report problems along routes such as potholes and obstructions, in order to alert both the council and other cyclists. It works to help the council to understand how and why people cycle in Hackney and aims to lead to the addition of new cycle parking stations in London. As an added bonus, it also tracks calories burned and distance – to help keep you on track as you’re on the track!
If you fancy living close by to these great cycle haunts then pop down to our Hoxton Press development on Penn Street (N1 5DS) to view our stunning show apartment or give us a call on 020 3308 9813 to find out more.
