This weekend (19-20 May) marks the Hackney Festival of Fitness, which offers several exciting sporting events, including the Hackney Half, the Hackney 5K and the Fight Klub Boxing Lesson. In honour of this, we’ve handpicked some of the best running routes around East London.

Regent’s Canal

Starting at Limehouse Station and finishing in Little Venice, this 9-mile route takes you on a tour through the heart of London. The route weaves through some of London’s most iconic areas, Victoria Park, Camden Lock and St Pancras Station to name a few. Passing through the industrial heritage of the East End to the grand mansions neighbouring Regent’s Park, you’ll experience all London has to offer.

Victoria Park

One of London’s oldest public parks, Victoria Park is a green oasis amongst the buzz of city life. With a loop-route just under 3-miles, and a wide-sealed road running around the perimeter it is a runner’s paradise. With a number of features to take in on your way round, such as the Chinese Pagoda and the Old English Garden – this short loop does not disappoint.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Playing host to number of London’s best and most recent landmarks, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park provides an inspiring backdrop for any runner. There are several routes to pick from around the Olympic Park, however we recommend taking it all in with this all-encompassing route. Starting at the London Aquatics Centre then heading West towards the ever-impressive London Stadium. Once there, head North to the rich colour of the Copper Box Arena before heading North-East and finishing like a true Olympian underneath the statue of the Olympic Rings.

Wanstead Flats and Parks

Situated at the most Southern tip of Epping Forest, one of London’s green offerings is Wanstead Flats and Park. This 7-mile loop takes you around the edge of The Flats, passing plenty of tranquil ponds and lakes. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the number of different bird species that visit the flats throughout the year.
