We recently caught up with Jack Johal, manager of Blue Check, one of Wembley’s finest places to eat, to find out more about his business and what tasty delights are on offer this side of town.

Can you tell us about Blue Check and how the company started?

The Blue Check has been in the heart of Wembley Park for around 21 years now, it was previously owned by my Dad, David Johal and has since been passed down to me. The business hasn’t changed much over the years, we still serve authentic Italian pizzas and a wide range of main courses with our particular focus on our delicious steaks and grills.

We cater for anyone and everyone on a day-to-day basis, welcoming regulars and locals, we also have special events and parties to welcome new visitors and those new to the community.

What’s the inspiration behind your menu?

Our menu inspiration is simple yet delicious comfort food. With 120z porterhouse steaks all the way to cajun salmon, there is such a broad range on our menu to keep everyone satisfied.

We pride ourselves on making sure you never leave on an empty stomach nor will you ever leave with food on your plate – it’s our guarantee!

What’s your favourite item on the menu?

Without a doubt, our full rack ribs served with homemade coleslaw and skinny chips or our MASSIVE 21oz steaks that are usually our monthly specials. It’s hard to pick one favourite! I’m lucky enough to be able to indulge in both for lunch and dinner!

What do you enjoy most about being in Wembley?

Wembley has changed dramatically since I started living and working in the area, and I think that’s what is so nice about it. The new tall buildings are a plus point with the new retailers and projects they attract but I’m also glad the independent businesses that have been in Wembley for decades are still celebrated and always share some of the spotlight in Wembley.

What are your top recommendations for things to do in the area?

Visit, visit, visit!

I love Wembley so much, mainly for all the independent businesses. It’s so nice to try all the different cuisines and see what each unique shop and business is offering.

The new Wembley Park Market encapsulates this so well, but Wembley High Road also has such a vast range of traders only a stones throw away that is always worth a visit
