Anthology helps get Ferry Lane Primary School walking to school

London property developer Anthology is supporting Ferry Lane Primary School, during Walk to School Week (20-24 May), to encourage pupils to increase their steps as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Situated just around the corner from their Hale Works development, members of the Anthology team visited Ferry Lane Primary School on Wednesday 22 May to present at a special assembly about the importance of safety when walking to school and to discuss the benefits of walking to school for themselves and the environment. The property developer also presented pupils with high-vis vests that they will be able to use on future walks to school, school trips and outdoor activities.

Walk to School Week is a national campaign to encourage children and their families to build exercise into their daily routine to promote a healthy lifestyle. The initiative also has several environmental benefits, reducing CO2 emissions, decrease traffic congestion and improving safety at the school gate.

Chris Powell, Project Director at Anthology Hale Works said: “It’s been great to work with Ferry Lane Primary School again this year to help promote Walk to School Week. It’s a fantastic initiative that the children always look forward to taking part in as a kick start to the summer term of nicer weather which gives more opportunities to walk to school.

“We also gifted some new board games to the school this year as they were lacking in provisions, hopefully the children will enjoy the selection!”

Headteacher of Ferry Lane Primary School, Lisa Rawashdeh added: “Walk to School Week helps to promote many values that we look to instil in the pupils, healthy living, safety and environmental awareness to name a few.

“The assembly hosted by Anthology was really informative and it was great for the children to hear how walking is beneficial to themselves and the environment. As always, we are most grateful for the high-vis jackets from the team, they are extremely handy for children walking to school and for when we partake in outdoor activities or school trips. I’m sure the children will make the most of the new board games too!”

Anthology’s Hale Works, is the final phase of the exciting Hale Village development and will forge a new landmark for the area, offering a selection of one, two and three bedroom homes.
