Good friends, Christina Zacharieva and Katya Hrynchak had been living together for the past two and a half years in a one-bedroom flat in Canning Town since moving to the UK to explore new opportunities. The architect and team leader had been looking at getting on the property ladder while wishing to take the next step in their lives but struggled to find their perfect homes until they came across Anthology Stratford Mill.
They explain: “Our combined search for the ideal starter home began late last year and whilst we had looked at various well-connected London locations, we were finding it difficult to find two new homes in the same building which would suit our slightly different tastes and lifestyles, while allowing us to still be close together. Our two key priorities were that the homes had to benefit from being close to a station for an easy work commute and offer a spacious and light layout, different to our previous rental home.’’
During an opportune walk in the local area, the friends came across Anthology Stratford Mill which was luckily due to soon launch and were instantly attracted to the city meet suburban feel of the community. To avoid missing out on the best home, Christina and Katya ensured they were one of the first to visit upon launch and were quick to each reserve a one-bedroom home, one floor from each other.
Both friends used London Help to Buy when purchasing their new homes and were even able to benefit from the full Stamp Duty holiday savings when they moved into their homes at Stratford Mill in June, just three months after their viewing.
Katya adds: “Buying my first home has been a goal which I have worked towards for a very long time but my home at Stratford Mill has surpassed my expectations as it not only provides me with the convenience of a new build apartment in a canal side location in London, which in itself is very rare, but my best friend is also just a floor away for catching up.”
Christina who works at an architectural firm continues: “I really love the modern and dual aspect layout which also benefits from overlooking the water which has proven to have positive psychological and wellbeing benefits.”
Beyond their new homes, Katya and Christina have been busy exploring the thriving Stratford neighbourhood which includes a plethora of convenience shops, Westfield Shopping Centre and various parks and green spaces including Victoria Park where they can continue their cycling and walking hobbies together. Pudding Mill Lane station, which is mere minutes from their home is also a huge benefit to their work/life balance and is not overcrowded unlike nearby commuter hub Stratford station.
