#HoxtonHotspots Spreading the Christmas Cheer in Hoxton!

It’s December! The countdown to Christmas can really begin. There’s lots going on in and around Hoxton but here’s a few ways you can get into the Christmas Spirit, get some gifts ticked off your list and enjoy a glass of mulled wine with a carol or two along the way.

Columbia Road Christmas Wednesdays

Columbia Road is usually best associated with the Sunday flower market, but the area is also home to over 60 independent shops, as well as restaurants, galleries and cafés. Throughout December the shops and restaurants are opening late from every Wednesday, 5-9pm on Columbia Road and Ezra Street, in the run up to Christmas. There will also be Christmas trees, mulled wine and carolling to get you in the festive spirit.

Urban Makers Annual Festive Makers’ Market

If you’re looking for a gift with a difference then head to a Christmas market with a difference at Ecology Pavilion Mile End Park, off Grove Road (E3 5TW) on 7th and 8th December. If you fancy a wintery wander, then it’s a pleasant stroll along the Regents Canal to Mile End Park.

You’ll find 50 different designers each day selling everything including Christmas gifts and decorations, homewares, jewellery, art, candles and accessories and they’re all sustainable and ethical. There are also workshops including Christmas Wreath making which we love the sound of along with all the festive food and drink you could wish for!

Hackney Christmas Market

Bohemia Place in central Hackney, offers a one stop shop as a festive market including over 50 gift stalls, a Santa’s Grotto, a giant snow globe, mulled wine, festive food, craft beer, workshops and mince pies. And, if that wasn’t enough there’ll be live entertainment between 11am and 6pm over two weekends in December (7th/8th and 14th/15th). Be sure to sign up for your free ticket!

Turning Earth Hoxton Winter Market

For something alternative, The Turning Earth Hoxton Winter Market on 14th and 15th December hosts a market with over 75 different makers, offering you the opportunity to shop for a beautifully original gift. Guests can also watch live demos in wheel throwing and other pottery techniques with the option to have a go yourself!

The market extends to the Big Sky Studios next door, where some of the UK’s finest woodwork will be showcased. There will also be a forge so you can get your carving knives sharpened in time for Christmas.

Carols by Candlelight

There’s nothing like Christmas carols to really get everyone in the Christmas mood and St John’s Hoxton will be holding a candlelight carol service on Sunday 15th December from 6pm-7.30pm.

The church on Pitfield Street will also be welcoming families from across the borough to their festive family fun day on 7th December from 1-4pm and a festive family film night on 20th December 6pm-8.30pm.
