Returning from the Middle East after working abroad for two years, Alex Kaderbhai (34) settled back into London living in his Mile End three bed home owned with his Brother. However, after a few months of being back in the UK, Alex was looking forward to searching for his own place which he eventually found in an apartment housed in the unusual Hexagonal towers of Anthology Hoxton Press.
Alex who works in Westminster as a Diplomat, decided now was the time to branch out and buy his own home, and with the chance of returning to work abroad in the future, Alex was keen on finding a good investment as well as a place to call home:
“After identifying over 30 apartments that ticked most of my boxes, I ended up viewing 10 homes in total which were mostly new build or built at least within the last five years. Most of these properties were in in the areas of Mile End, Dalston, Haggerston and Wapping. However, it was my now apartment at Hoxton Press that won me over in the end.”
The two bedroom and two bathroom apartment within the Duo Tower at Hoxton Press was hard to beat for Alex: “The stunning floor to ceiling windows exude natural light from all angles and really add a feature piece to the home. It’s a totally different environment to when I was staying in Iraq where I was in a smaller one bedroom with very little light. The comparison has made me appreciate the lighting of my new place even more. My apartment faces North East and South East, so I’m also lucky to enjoy views over Shoreditch Park, Olympic stadium and into the City.”
The striking design of Hoxton Press, which has won numerous architectural awards including from New London Architecture, was also a factor that caught Alex’s eye: “In my opinion, the two towers which form the development are very attractive, the hexagonal design is an eye-catching landmark for the area whilst also being very well built. I really can’t knock the quality of the apartment that also has the bonus of integrated kitchen applications including a super quiet washing machine which is more important than you think when it comes to apartment living!”
Hoxton Press is within easy reach of the City, a short walk from Old Street underground and nearby Hoxton overground, providing residents with easy access across London. Alex comments: “Hoxton is really convenient for me for work as when the weather is nice, I have a fairly easy 20-minute cycle to Westminster which has saved 10 minutes compared to when I was living in Mile End. I love being near the canal, not only for getting into central but also for the weekends as there’s always plenty going on and it’s a great spot for a jog.
“Shoreditch Park, which I overlook from my apartment, has a great sense of community and it’s such a benefit being able to escape to some open greenery right on your doorstep. There’s some nice bars and restaurants nearby especially in Shoreditch and Dalston which is good for meeting up with friends. Closer to home, I’ve been enjoying the local pub, Rosemary Branch, which couldn’t get much more local being over the road.”
The 16 and 20 storey towers at Hoxton Press provide a mix of one, two- and three-bedroom homes, including a selection of penthouses with private roof terraces. Current homes available start from £650,000.
