Buying a new home is one fantastic way of celebrating a job promotion but for Molly (27), it was a dream she had aspired to since renting in Hammersmith for two years with her friend. Now, following an introduction to Tottenham Hale, she is enjoying saving on her monthly outgoings at Anthology’s Hale Works community, due to a surprisingly lower mortgage compared to her previous rental costs.
Suburban Tottenham Hale in North London was a fairly unknown territory to Molly who works in the centre of the city and had been renting in West London. That was until her Dad, Regional Managing Director at Anthology (part of Lifestory), Steve Bangs took her for a tour of the new community he had been proudly working on with his project team. Molly said: “My Dad had a feeling that Hale Works would tick the boxes for what I was looking for in my first home, so I was eager to see for myself. When my Dad showed me around the local area and the Hale Works community, I was pleasantly surprised about the location’s convenience and feel; and I was truly taken away by the quality of the homes available within the tower at Hale Works.
“Although I was keen to explore my options and viewed a range of other homes on offer from new build developers across many boroughs, my final decision to buy an Anthology home over any other new build home I viewed is testament to the high quality of the build and stylish design. Plus, as my Dad suspected, the location also won me over!”
Steve Bangs, Molly’s Dad and Regional Managing Director at Anthology, said: “As any Dad will know, my greatest motivation was helping to find Molly a first home where she would feel happy and safe. To become a homeowner at 27 is a great achievement and I’m proud that she is starting off this journey at one of our Anthology communities. Hale Works is a place I’m confident she will enjoy living and one that is a good investment for years to come.”
Molly who made the timely move to her new one-bedroom apartment in March this year, was also able to benefit from the stamp duty holiday making her step on to the property ladder a quicker one than expected: “Having achieved a promotion I was able to secure a good mortgage so the time just felt right for me. As the majority of first-time buyers know, buying a house is a costly decision however there are so many great incentives available at the moment. Alongside the stamp duty savings, which has helped me furnish and kit out my new home to my style, I also used Help to Buy enabling me to secure my new home with a 5% deposit.”
Not only is Molly enjoying the financial perks of being a homeowner, but she managed to tick some important factors off her wish list: “The most important factor for me was finding an area where I felt safe and when visiting Tottenham and Hale Works for the first time at the end of last year with Dad, I instantly felt this was the place for me. The train station is less than a two-minute walk from my front door so puts my mind at rest when travelling home later in the evening. It also means I have a really easy, 20-minute commute to my workplace via the Victoria line. Visiting friends across London is also so convenient as I can get to most places in less than 30 minutes by train.”
Hale Works is the final component of the eleven-phase re-development of the area and offers a collection of 279 new homes. The 32-storey tower provides some enviable views which was another huge draw for Molly: “When I visited Hale Works, I couldn’t quite believe the amazing cityscape that can be seen across London. I’m lucky to have a balcony that has unobstructed views of Canary Wharf and the city; the sunsets are truly something to behold. I’m really looking forward to the summer months and restrictions lifting when I can have friends over to enjoy a glass of wine or two! The stunning Sky Lounge and rooftop garden is also now complete so it will also be great to meet some of my neighbours through the gatherings due to be arranged.
“In the meantime, I’ve been enjoying the great outdoors that Tottenham has to offer. I’ve recently taken up the Couch to 5k challenge so the canal nearby is a beautiful backdrop for my running and the wetlands also offer a huge expanse of green space to explore.
“There is also a gym and supermarket right opposite Hale Works which is a great convenience for a busy lifestyle. Beavertown Brewery is also popular in the area and just a short walk away –as I’m new to the area, there is so much to be exploring. Due to the investment in regenerating the area, it will be great to see even more bars, cafes and restaurants pop up over the coming years. But, for now, I’m still just pinching myself that I own a brand-new, maintenance free home with such incredible views, all within 20 minutes from Oxford Street and work!”
Hale Works currently has a collection of one, two- and three-bedroom homes with Help to Buy available. Prices start from £440,000 for a one-bedroom home. For more information contact: 020 7760 1583 / haleworks@anthology.london or visit anthology.london
