East London is officially heating up, with bars, restaurants and cafes opening their doors to guests for al fresco dining.
Take a look at our pick of the best to check out this spring. Now, if only sunshine was guaranteed…
Howl at the Moon
Howl at the Moon is an independent neighbourhood pub serving a range of lagers, ales and ciders which was famously featured in Artic Monkey music video for ‘Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?’ This spring and summer, the pub has partnered with Hoxton Trust and is using the Hoxton Trust Community Garden next door for its al fresco dining, so there’s plenty of space for visitors to relax and enjoy a drink.
Signature Brew
The Signature Brew Haggerston taproom is based in a railway arch next to Regent’s Canal, with a spacious outdoor terrace that is perfect for a drink day or night. Visitors can enjoy a huge range of craft beers including Signature Brew award-winning beers and collaborations with other breweries from around the world.
Cocotte
Situated next to Hoxton Square, Cocotte is a farm-to-table rotisserie restaurant proudly offering homemade dishes using only the freshest ingredients. Its chicken is marinated in a secret blend of herbs and spices for 24 hours before being slow cooked on the rotisserie, ensuring it’s as juicy and full of flavour as possible. Dishes can be perfectly paired with one of the many French red, white or rose wines on offer.
Friend of Ours
Those looking for al fresco brunch should look no further than Friend of Ours, a chic yet cosy café open for breakfast and lunch. Its Australasian-inspired spring menu includes dishes such as vegan crispy tofu burrito, homemade granola with fruit and whipped banana cream, and bacon focaccia, served alongside fresh juices and coffee.
Queen of Hoxton
Queen of Hoxton is a popular Shoreditch bar with a vibrant rooftop terrace that boasts incredible views of East London. The climb up the stairs may be tiring but it’s worth it for the extensive cocktail menu; perfect for an evening sunset drink with friends. Queen of Hoxton also hosts a legendary bottomless brunch on Saturdays with bottomless prosecco and waffles, bingo games and a drag queen host.
