Wembley starts to wake up

Wembley starts to wake up

The time has come when we have all started to think about getting back to a little normal, seeing friends, loved ones and indulging in some of the other past times that during lockdown we’ve been unable to do. We round up just some of the places opening back up in and around Wembley following the easing of restrictions:

BOXPARK

In light of the government unveiling reopening plans for restaurants, bars and pubs, the global street food and pop up shopping, Boxpark has reopened its doors. With the new social distancing guidelines, each venue will be introducing safety measures to comply with the ‘one-metre rule’ and NHS coronavirus tracking system. Celebrate the return of this amazing foodie venue on the doorstep of Wembley and support our neighbourhood restaurants offering a deliciously diverse range of cuisine.

If a spot of retail therapy is more your thing then there is an array of independent fashion and lifestyle brands too. Keep an eye on Boxpark’s website for details of exactly which street food traders and retailers have reopened, along with some new and exciting culinary delights hitting its shipping containers this summer.

Luna Drive in Cinema

Just down the road from Wembley Park at Saracen’s rugby club home ground, Allianz Park in Hendon, Luna thought long and hard about the best way to bring cinema back whilst being socially distances and came up with Luna Drive-in cinemas which will be open from 4 July. There’s state of the art sound and screens, a fantastic array of food and drinks all with contactless ordering and a selection of some of the best films, old and new, with some sing-along classics, all of which can be enjoyed from inside your car.

London Designer Outlet

The shopping outlet mecca,  London Designer Outlet, opened its doors on 15 June and in accordance with guidelines from the government, has been offering an enjoyable but safe shopping experience. There are some restrictions to entrances and exits and there is a clear navigation system to follow with markings and signage throughout the centre to help control distancing. Certain stores have remained closed for a little while longer so it is advised to visit the website for more details before planning in your retail therapy!

The Lounge Café Wembley Park

The delightful independent local café in the Chalkhill Community Centre has also reopened its doors, after offering a fantastic takeaway and collection service to Wembley foodies throughout lockdown. The Lounge Café has been providing food for the overworked doctors and nurses at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in nearby Stanmore, amongst others, so not only will you enjoy a delectable meal but you can support a wonderful local business. The Chinese style ribs or Sri Lankan chicken look mouth-watering!
